No church runs itself.
At St George’s, everything we do is made possible by people who are willing to get involved and play their part. We love seeing people get stuck in, and there are so many ways you can use your time, skills, and talents to help support the life of the church.
Whether it’s being part of our gatherings on a Sunday, helping a specific demographic, supporting us financially, or assisting with the general running of the church, every role matters.
Getting involved is a great way to meet others, feel part of what’s going on, and make a real difference.

At our 9am Sunday service
Bible Reading

Are you good at reading out loud? Read a Bible passage provided as part of our 9am service.
Lock up

Available after the 9am to clear and lock up the church after the service?

Love to welcome people with a smile? Assist with welcome and seating people at our 9am.
Tea and Coffee on Sundays

Every 6 weeks
Set up and serve refreshments from 10am-10:30am on a Sunday for both of our Sunday gatherings.

Help to give a warm welcome to those arriving at our 10:30 gathering.
Set up/Set down

Help to set up and/or set down the 10:30 in our Church Centre.
Kids Team

Be a part of our kids team - which provides groups during the 10:30.
Prayer Team

Join our prayer team to pray for people after the 10:30 gathering.
Church Grounds and Buildings
Churchyard Tidy
3-4 times a year
Help us keep our churchyard grounds tidy with a bit of gardening on a Saturday morning.
Flower Team

Join our lovely flower team, who provide flowers for Sundays and special occasions.
Fabrics Committee
Monthly
Passionate about old building preservation? Join the team trying to keep our building safe.
Grass Mowing

Join the team that work hard to keep our grass nice and trim in the spring and summer.
Opening up
Daily/Weekly/Monthly
Our church is open 10am-4pm, Mon-Fri. Join our rota to help us open and close it during the week.
Church cleaning

We're always needing more people to help us keep the church building clean inside.
Verger
As needed
help to oversee operations in the church for any weddings or funerals.
Church Centre Building
Cleaning
Weekly
Help to keep our Church Centre hall, kitchen and toilets clean inbetween bookings and services.
Maintenance

Help our maintenance men keep on top of jobs at the Church Centre.
Mid-Week
Friendship Club
1st Tues of the month
10am. Come and help us welcome people from the community for a coffee or cuppa and a chat. Everyone welcome.
Women's Events
2-3 times a year
Do you love running events to bless other women? We're always looking for more volunteers.
Knit n Stitch
3rd Tues of the month
10am. Come and engage with creative people from our community?
Bring your knitting, sewing or crochet, and join us.
Bell Ringing
Thursday Evenings
Fancy joining our bell-ringing team? You'd be very welcome.
Weekly practice is on Thursday evenings.
Washing
As needed
Whether it's linen cloths or tea towels, there's always washing that needs to be taken home and returned.
Mother's Union
Monthly - Mondays
Join the Mother's Union membership - a registered worldwide charity working in 86 different countries.

St George's needs substantial funds to keep it running, so we are always grateful for any/all financial support.

Maybe you've got gifts and skills in an area we haven't mentioned above, we'd love to hear about them, please get in touch and we'll guide you to the right person to speak to.
